2019 Marquita Hannibal-Francique Award Winner

“Helping, motivating and empowering people to complete physically challenging tasks helps them increase their confidence and overall brain function. The ability to do physically challenging tasks starts with mindset. Whether you tell yourself you can or can not do something you’re right. How we speak to ourselves matters. At Fit and Lit it is not just about physical fitness but mental fitness as well. I love teaching this to people and empowering them to have a positive mental attitude."

The Marquita Hannibal-Francique Award

Run 4 All Women is proud to establish this award in honor of Marquita Hannibal- Francique, a talented educator, fierce social justice advocate and loving and devoted mom to her children. As an original member of the Run 4 All Women team, Marquita's passion and selflessness helped lay the foundation for what has become an international movement dedicated to empowering women through fitness. Her contribution spurred others into action and the goal of this award is to honor that legacy.

This annual award will be granted to a young woman of color who exemplifies the qualities that Marquita stood for with a commitment to using their gifts and platform to inspire others. The award will provide an opportunity for this woman to fulfill a goal that empowers her and allows her to broaden her horizons and empower others in her home community.
